Our short film is based on a funny, absurd, and moving true story. It recounts an unforgettable experience that Licia had with her Zio in Italy years ago.
“Il pezzo” in Italian has three meanings; literally translated, it means “the piece” and can refer to a physical piece of something, a piece of music, or a guy who sees himself as a big shot (pezzo grosso). All three meanings are central to the film.
In the film, Licia and her Zio and Zia go in search of a Stradivarius violin in the mountains of Calabria, only to encounter the completely unexpected. It’s a short film that celebrates music, Italian culture and tradition, the beauty of the Italian landscape, and most of all, the deep love of family.
